As each year goes by, the number of traffic-related deaths in Texas continues to rise. 2020 saw the highest number of traffic deaths since 1984. In addition, Texas has a 21-year-streak of at least one traffic death per day.
A report done by the Texas Department of Transportation in November of 2021 showed that these fatalities were the result of distracted driving, speeding, and failure to buckle up in the vehicle.
If you’re getting behind the wheel, it’s imperative that you put away all distractions. Give yourself enough time to reach your destination so that you can stick to the posted speed limit. Lastly, before you leave your driveway, buckle your seatbelt and ensure that all your passengers are buckled up as well. Taking the time to do this can help you avoid another Texas traffic fatality.
