On the morning of Friday, November 22nd, four Aldine ISD students were sent to the hospital after a school bus transporting them was involved in a multi-vehicular accident between Texas State Highway 249 and Veterans Memorial Drive.
According to a spokesperson from Aldine ISD, the accident was a domino effect where multiple vehicles collided into each other, ultimately wrecking into the school bus.
A driver had exited a McDonald’s parking lot when it was struck by a white truck. As a result, the car then hit another vehicle and then proceeded to strike the school bus. The truck driver that essentially caused the collisions in the first place fled the scene.
The school principal contacted the parents of the four students that were sent to the hospital immediately afterward and spent time with the students when they were treated for injuries, all of which were not life-threatening.
According to School Bus Fleet , a school bus maintenance and management magazine serving the U.S. and Canada, a school bus is one of the most popular transportation methods for grade school children, with an estimated 471,461 buses picking up and dropping off children every day.
Regardless of how safely equipped and designed these vehicles may be, however, accidents can happen at any time.
