On Monday, May 11th, a gray Lexus driver was the main subject of an intense car chase that trekked police officers and the Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers across the city of Houston. The pursuit lasted about an hour and ultimately concluded in a car crash just off Highway 288 and Reed Road.
According to local authorities, the car chase started just after 1 p.m. at a traffic stop on Main and the South Loop. The driver already had an arrest warrant under his name, and while he was pulling out of the hotel parking lot, he used his own vehicle to hit a police cruiser. The pursuit started from there, then moved to Highway 288, and then made its way into the East Loop southbound near the Ship Channel Bridge.
At one point, the suspect drove through grassy areas as he was leaving the I-610 lanes and sped his way through Martin Luther King Boulevard. The driver made his way again to the South Loop near Kirby Drive despite crashing into traffic barrels.
After about an hour of constant pursuit, police finally apprehended the suspect after he crashed into another vehicle just off Highway 288 and Reed Road. Luckily, no injuries were reported.
